Be Gorgeous, Feel Amazing

I'd like to introduce you to Betty Galvin, my muse and blogger.  Say hello!

My Friend Betty Says is a lifestyle blog written by Betty Galvan, a former teacher turned SAHM, turned blogger and freelance writer. Mexican-American from Chicago gone NYC, gone Asia and now staying put in New Jersey. Living a positive life and writing about it all. Contact me at bettygalvan08@gmail.com

Look at what I found: the ultimate easy-breezy dress! This Karina “Audrey” is a classic. I love a v-neck in the front…and back. I also love a full swingy skirt and a super comfortable and soft feel. I love the idea of wearing this dress to the office (perhaps with a jacket or cardigan over it) and later taking this baby out to dinner. It’s also perfect for travel as it is light and fresh…just right on hot summer days. Dressed by Lori carries a variety of Karina dresses in different styles and a great selection of colors and prints.
I also wanted to let local MFBS readers know that Lori is having an amazing event on Wednesday, July 16th at 6pm at Dressed by Lori. It’s the Be Gorgeous and Feel Amazing event! Author and speaker, Rosie Battista presents a one hour WOWSA, interactive, educational and fun seminar/workshop, which includes a signed copy of her guidebook, “Sleeping Naked After 40.” Rosie’s passion and purpose is helping women feel better about themselves by teaching them how to eat and think better. I have met her and she is awesome!!! Please call Lori at 973-218-6206 for your seat at this very special and inspiring event. Tell her your friend Betty sent you!

Lace and Color at Dressed by Lori

I can not get over this gorgeous aquamarine Shoshanna lace dress. Do you remember the romantic red one Betty wore for Valentine’s? I think I have a new favorite! Color sets the mood and I’m envisioning a perfect summer night, dining alfresco, wearing this dress while on vacation with Hubby. Plus, lace is so romantic, classic and simply elegant.
Now that you have seen two beautiful colors here, if you are local, you need to stop by Dressed by Lori (if you are not, you can always call or order on line) and check out the gorgeous spring and summer colors. We have a rainbow of colors!
For a limited time - all of the lace dresses are 20% off!
What colors are you currenlty craving? Do you have a lace dress in your closet? Please share!
P.s. Please check out a very cool upcoming event at Dressed by Lori by clicking HERE. I’ll be sharing more about it later this week. Thank you!

  1. Red, White, & Blue Layered Drinks from Around My Family Table are the perfect touch of festive and delicious!  You can’t beat how stunning these are.

Powerful You from Betty & Lori

I love this Shoshanna "Alessandra" dress for the office. This outfit says: That woman is a go-getter. Blue, the preferred color in corporate America, is a strong, serious and powerful hue. Pair it up with yellow and gold tones and you will be unstoppable. Yellow is warm, happy, and energetic. What a great balance, don't you think? These two colors go so well together.
Don't be afraid to use bold colors to the office. One bright solid color can be enough. Use these hues to help inspire you and motivate you too (especially as we endure this long and cold winter!). Keep makeup toned down with neutrals for a nice balance.
This dress is a great example of versatility. I paired this outfit together with my reliable Fendi open-toe pumps for a chic creative work event. Although, I would definitely switch up the shoes to a nude or black pointy pump for the office, and fun strappy sandals for a night out.

Always remember that trends come and go. Classic YOU is all you need to help you feel confident and strong in and out of the office (or home, or classroom...). So tell me, what's your power outfit? Please share!

A big thank you to Dressed by Lori for another great idea for our wardrobes. Please make sure to stop by (or visit online!) for all your dress needs. You will find everything from beach dresses to day dresses and work dresses to special occassion ones too.
Thank you to Jyoti of Stella& Dot for helping us style this dress beautifully with the Norah pendant and Norah cuff. Stunning!

Hitting the Runway for a Cause! from Betty & Lori

Last week, I was invited to the Family and Children's Services Red Carpet fund raiser in my town. Lori was a committee member and asked if I would walk the runway and model a few of the dresses she carries in the boutique. Of course, I said yes! I was excited to meet New York designer Marissa Webb, and overjoyed to see women ranging from 18 to 50+ throw on their confident smile and strut the catwalk!
The models volunteered and a vast majority of the people attending the event donated their services, time and money to help Family and Children's Services raise funds for abused and neglected children.
Family& Children's Services (FACS) is an independent non-profit behavioral health and social services agency based in Elizabeth, NJ serving Union County and the surrounding areas with an emphasis on those most vulnerable, at-risk, disadvantaged and under-served. FACS counts on public donations and I was happy take part in the event.

We had so much fun! Fashion should always be exciting, but super important and remarkable when using it for a good cause.
